THE GIFT OF KINGS®

Australia and New Zealand

The Gift of Kings® is an incredible fine wool, and it comes solely from specially selected flocks of merino sheep. Hailing from the meadows of Australia and New Zealand, it reaches Italy to be processed with exceptional care and expertise.

The world's most precious wool

The Gift of Kings® wool was named after the Spanish royal family's practice of gifting pairs of merino sheep to other sovereigns to honor relationships and seal alliances.

This outstanding wool has an impressively fine diameter on average. Pure, gleaming white in color, its crimped structure, natural stretch, and supreme softness against the skin are complemented by its ability to wick away moisture and absorb excess heat. All these properties make The Gift of Kings® merino wool a unique fiber.

Traceability and digital identity

In 2022, Loro Piana launched a new authenticity and traceability service certified by Aura Blockchain Consortium - an initiative led by luxury maisons going beyond traditional frontiers to become a technological hub for brands to guarantee the authenticity, traceability, and excellence of luxury products. Scanning the QR code on the labels of items made of The Gift of Kings® wool, customers can verify the authenticity and traceability of the garment, telling its unique story, from the region of the farm to the store.

Every year Loro Piana awards the world's finest wool with the Loro Piana Record Bale, the annual event through which the maison celebrates the excellence and the best merino wool sheep farmers in Australia and New Zealand.

By making uncompromising quality and absolute elegance undeniable qualities, Loro Piana celebrates the important milestones under the sign of tradition. A tribute that once again highlights the commitment towards a constant effort in terms of wool fineness and quality. From the first Record Bale to the present, in fact, the awarded fiber was refined, year after year, by almost 25%. An extraordinary result that bears witness to the breeders' unceasing dedication to the production of an even finer and better-performing wool.
